Major Research Programs

• The Lifespan/Tufts/Brown Center for AIDS Research is a joint research effort between Tufts and Brown universities and their affiliated hospitals and centers. The CFAR is part of a national program begun by the National Institutes of Health in 1988. There are currently 20 Centers for AIDS Research located at academic medical centers throughout the country.

• Centers for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine, a collaboration of The Miriam Hospital and Brown Medical School, researched programs for smoking cessation, weight and diabetes control, the benefits of exercise and more.

  • The Weight Control and Diabetes Research Center promotes research in the field of obesity prevention and treatment.
