Andrew Busch, PhD
Andrew Busch, PhD, is an assistant professor (research) of psychiatry
and human behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown
University and a research associate in the Centers for Behavioral and
Preventive Medicine at The Miriam Hospital. He is a clinical
psychologist with expertise in “third wave” behavioral counseling
treatments (i.e., functional analytic psychotherapy, acceptance and
commitment therapy and behavioral activation).
Busch’s current work focuses on applying behavioral activation to health
behavior change and depression in medical populations. He is currently
funded by a K23 award from NHLBI (K23HL107391) during which he will
develop a behavioral activation based treatment for smoking cessation
and mood management following an acute cardiac event. Other research
interests include the restriction of valued activities in medical
patients and the effects of smoking and smoking cessation on mood.
Busch has over 30 book chapters and peer-reviewed publications. In
addition, he co-authored a published behavioral activation for
depression treatment manual:
Behavioral Activation: Distinctive Features (Routledge).
