• One out of three adults over 65 fall each year

• Among older adults, falls are the leading cause of injury deaths

• In 2009, 2.2 million fall injuries among older adults are treated in the Emergency Room and more than 581,000 were hospitalized

• In 2008, over 19,700 older adults died from unintentional fall injuries

• Falls are the most common cause of traumatic brain injuries

• Most fractures among older adults are caused by falls
