Neal LeLeiko, MD, PhD, specializes in caring for children with inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal failure. He has been a leader in the field of pediatric gastroenterology, nutrition, liver transplantation and small bowel transplantation.
LeLeiko is a graduate of Brooklyn College and New York Medical College. He received a doctoral degree in nutritional biochemistry and metabolism from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. His academic career has focused on the important role of nutrition in childhood disease and especially diseases of the gastrointestinal tract and liver. He has more than 120 academic and scholarly publications and has served on the editorial board of the largest circulating pediatric journal in the world, Pediatrics, where he was the editor for gastroenterology and nutrition. He also serves as a contributing editor to AAP Grand Rounds, the American Academy of Pediatrics’s monthly review of the latest medical advances. He is a member of the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Pediatric Society, among other prestigious societies.
