We want to assure you that the we are here for you. While the coronavirus has changed much of our daily lives, one thing that has remained constant is our commitment to providing you with the best, safest care possible.
Here at the Lifespan Cardiovascular Institute, your safety is our top priority. As experts in cardiovascular disease, we also know completing a treatment plan is associated with the best outcomes for patients. That is why we worked closely with our infection prevention and infectious diseases teams to be able to provide the care you need in a safe environment.
Cardiac Care for Women
Compared to men, women have different risks for cardiovascular disease, symptoms of cardiovascular disease, and response to treatment. At the Women’s Cardiac Center, we have an in-depth understanding of these differences and offer a multidisciplinary approach to specialized cardiac care for women.
In our convenient, comfortable setting dedicated to women’s health, we provide cardiac services for all women, including those with known risk factors for cardiovascular disease such as:
- family history of heart disease
- lack of exercise
- pregnancy or post-pregnancy
- postmenopausal time of life
Through the Lifespan Cardiovascular Institute, we offer complete diagnostic and clinical cardiology services, cardiovascular surgery, and cardiac rehabilitation, as well as access to clinical trials. All test results and recommendations are sent to each patient’s primary care physician.
Cardiovascular Services at the Women's Medicine Collaborative
Athena Poppas, MD and Karen Aspry, MD, physicians at the Lifespan Cardiovascular Institute, also see patients at the Women's Medicine Collaborative (WMC), a convenient, comfortable setting dedicated to women’s health.
In collaboration with the Lifespan Cardiovascular Institute at Rhode Island, The Miriam and Newport hospitals, the WMC understands the unique needs of women in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
Our program cares for all women, including pregnant and postpartum women. We are also experienced in treating women with cardiovascular issues who would like preconception counseling.
For your convenience, echocardiograms are also performed at the Women's Medicine Collaborative. Please call 1-855-332-8474 (1-855-33-CVIRI) for more information or to schedule an appointment.
